Tivoli is a lottery advertising sheet created in Vienna in 1836 for the Tivoli in the Meidling district. A bird’s-eye view shows the large pavilion and its terraces surrounded by gardens, paths and numerous visitors. Flags fly above the building, while the city skyline appears in the distance.
The German wording announces “TIVOLI – wobei gewonnen wird” and a total of 525,000 florins in “W.W.”, short for Wiener Währung, or Viennese currency. The line “Lose sind hier zu haben” states that tickets are available here. The Wien Museum dates the work to 1836, records its maker as unknown and describes it as a coloured chalk lithograph on paper. The original measures 64 × 89.8 cm and carries inventory number 87140.
