Tyrolean Peasant Woman – Anita Rée

A Tyrolean peasant woman sits facing the viewer, wearing a black hat decorated with a feather. In a blouse with voluminous sleeves, she holds rosary beads before an interior painted in orange and blue.

Anita Rée painted Tiroler Bäuerin in 1921. The Lenbachhaus in Munich records this painting on canvas as measuring 66.5 × 60.5 × 2.2 cm and notes the signature “Rée” at upper right.

The work belongs to the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus und Kunstbau München, inventory number G 19196. The museum acquired it in 2019.
