Alice Pike Barney made The White Turban in 1911. The Smithsonian American Art Museum records this portrait as pastel on canvas measuring 64.7 × 53.8 cm.

The work belongs to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, object number 1951.14.112. Laura Dreyfus Barney and Natalie Clifford Barney gave it in memory of their mother, Alice Pike Barney.
