Christ Carrying the Cross – Italian School
Christ is shown half-length against a dark background. Wearing the crown of thorns, he turns his face towards the viewer while both hands hold a heavy cross set on a diagonal. His pale tunic and dark red-brown mantle bring the figure forward in the tightly framed composition.
This painting on wood, attributed to the Italian School and dated to around 1515, measures 63 × 46 cm. Its precise authorship remains uncertain: the work has been associated with several Northern Italian painters.
Held by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, it depicts the episode of the Passion in which Christ carries his cross. The direct gaze and absence of other figures focus the image on his presence and the weight of the timber.

Provide a complete postal address and a reachable phone number. Delivery to a PO box or pickup point depends on the country, size and carrier.
Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
