This 1899 poster advertises The Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth in an edition made for a French-speaking audience. The Boston Public Library preserves it in the Richard Dale McMullan Collection. It is a 77 × 99 cm colour lithograph printed in Cincinnati and New York by The Strobridge Lithograph Co. The artist is not identified.
A group of elephants occupies the centre of the ring, surrounded by clowns and performers in motion. Several acrobats leap above the animals while others run or stand beside circus apparatus. The French caption announces a “Grand turnoí par 20 champions sauteurs les plus renommés,” retaining the spelling printed on the poster. The lower banner calls Barnum & Bailey “l’institut de divertissement le plus grand et le plus magnifique du monde,” a promotional translation of the English claim placed across the top.
