Signed on the lower-right edge of the table, it entered the collection in 1885 as a gift from Abraham Bredius.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003ePike, bream and perch on a strainer\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn the corner of a wooden table, a pike, a curved bream and two perch rest on an earthenware strainer. The head of another fish appears between the bream and perch. The strainer is tilted against a vessel, while the handle of a hook or landing net can be seen to the left, completing the deliberately plain arrangement.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eA Dutch specialist in fish still lifes\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDe Putter worked mainly on fish still lifes, stalls, markets and fishermen. Here, the light picks out the slightly raised scales and wet appearance of the fish.
