Portrait of Monsieur Pool by Albert Dubois-Pillet
Laurent Bernard Pool is shown bust-length in his officer’s uniform. His dark moustache, gold epaulettes, cords and Legion of Honour cross stand out against a densely patterned Central Asian prayer rug.
An early Neo-Impressionist portrait from 1887
Albert Dubois-Pillet, Captain Pool’s friend and fellow soldier, dedicated and gave him this portrait in 1887. Pool’s receipt of the Legion of Honour in 1886 probably inspired the work. This 54.9 × 46 cm oil on canvas is among the earliest Neo-Impressionist portraits. It belongs to the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, accession 2002.77.

Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
