Pehr Hilleström, master of Scandinavian realism
Pehr Hilleström, a prominent figure of 18th-century Swedish art, masterfully blended social observation with technical virtuosity. Influenced by European currents of his time and by meticulous attention to local costumes and customs, Hilleström left works that document daily life with narrative elegance. His compositions stand out for their keen sense of interior light, delicate coloring, and ability to render textures — fabrics, furniture, skins — with great fidelity. This art print pays tribute to his perspective as a historian of everyday life and allows appreciation of the finesse of an artist who immortalized Dalarna and its inhabitants.
