Our Good Earth – John Steuart Curry
A farmer stands in a Kansas wheat field holding several stalks, with two children at his sides. Blue sky, moving clouds, golden wheat and the figures’ gestures give the study a monumental composition despite its small format.
This image is John Steuart Curry’s 1942 watercolor study on illustration board, not the final printed poster. Handwritten notes remain visible in the margins and document its preparatory state.
Curry created the study for an image intended to support the American war effort. The finished painting was later reproduced as a poster captioned “Our Good Earth – Keep It Ours”. The reproduction offered here depicts the study held by the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
