The characters come to life in a play of tight perspectives, while the light plays on buildings and fabrics, giving the whole a mood that is both realistic and intimate. The technique highlights precise detail treatment and a sensitivity to chromaticism typical of city views, inviting the viewer to walk among the stalls and feel the rhythm of daily life.
