An old stone-and-timber mill stands beside a narrow stream. In the foreground, water runs between large rocks while a group of ducks moves through dense vegetation. Visible brushwork and changing light give life to this shaded ravine.

A work documented circa 1900–1905

Ketterer Kunst’s sale record lists Im Mühlengrund as an oil on canvas by Alexander Koester, dated circa 1900–1905 and measuring 115 × 85 cm. The painting is referenced as Stein 696. At the 2017 sale, its provenance was recorded as a private collection in Rhineland-Palatinate.
