About Female Nude
This work by Paul Paede, titled Frauenakt in its German source, was painted before the artist’s death in 1929. Born in Berlin in 1868 and later based in Munich, the German painter and illustrator became particularly known for female nudes.
A seated figure in an interior
A young woman sits in an upholstered armchair, her torso uncovered and her head inclined. One forearm crosses her body while the other hand gathers a white cloth. A red patterned cushion, a dark blue cushion and a pink drape create an intimate interior around her.
Light, colour and paint handling
Paede models the skin in cream, pink and ochre tones applied with supple brushwork. The illuminated face and torso emerge from a deep brown ground, while the white, blue and pink textiles structure the composition. The signature “P. Paede” appears at upper left. The historic image, sourced from Hampel Auctions, is preserved as a digital reproduction on Wikimedia Commons.

Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
