{"product_id":"brownee-a-grosse-tete-sydenham-edwards","title":"Brownea grandiceps botanical print — Sarah Anne Drake","description":"Brownea grandiceps botanical plate — Sarah Anne Drake\n\nThis illustration depicts Brownea grandiceps, a species currently accepted by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. A large spherical flower head in shades of pink and carmine dominates the composition. Long curved stamens radiate around the dense cluster, while pinnate foliage spreads across the lower part of the plate.\n\nA plate published in 1841\n\nPlate 30 appeared in volume 27 of Edwards’s Botanical Register in 1841. Botanical catalogues attribute it to Sarah Anne Drake, also cited as S. A. Drake. The journal’s name caused the work to be confused with Sydenham Edwards, who died in 1819 and could not have created this plate.\n\nBotanical observation and composition\n\nThe hand-coloured engraving combines descriptive precision with rich colour. Two numbered analytical details isolate parts of the flower. Gradations from pale pink to burgundy give volume to the inflorescence, while the light green leaves and pale ground allow it to fill almost the entire image.","brand":"Artem Legrand","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55414072574277,"sku":null,"price":24.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0773\/1707\/9365\/files\/Sydenham_Edwards_-_Largeheaded_Brownaea_cadre.webp?v=1755838967","url":"https:\/\/www.artemlegrand.nl\/en\/products\/brownea-with-large-head-sydenham-edwards","provider":"Artem Legrand","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
